The Republic school board has voted to remove two books from the school curriculum and from the school library. One is the renowned “Slaughter House Five,” by Kurt Vonnegut, a book generally considered his most popular work. Modern Library says it’s the 18th greatest novel of the 20th century. The other book is “Twenty Boy Summer” by Sarah Ocker, a novel about two teenage girls looking for a summer fling.

A man from Republic had complained more than a year ago that the books advocate principles that are contrary to the Bible.
