Landeman of Gaslight Square fame dies at 83

July 26, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

One of the cornerstone figures of the Gaslight Square days of St. Louis has died. Fran Landesman and her husband, Harry, owned the Crystal Palace nightclub in that entertainment district of the 1960s. Harry Landesman died last February.

Their Crystal Palace cabaret theatre drew big names to Gaslight Square–including the Smothers Brothers, Woody Allen, Barbra Streisand, Lenny Bruce, Phyllis Diller and others.

Fran Landesman was 83.
