The food bank that serves southwest Missouri is asking for a lot of help because the Joplin tornado has heavily increased its services. The Springfield News Leader reports the Ozarks Food Harvest Food Bank had been distributing about one-million pounds of food a month to food pantries and other organizations in its service areas. But the newspaper says Joplin, by itself, has received 2 million pounds of food since the May 22nd tornado.
