The Missouri River Working Group has its first meeting tomorrow in Washington. The group is composed of the Senators from seven states along the Missouri River. Senator Blunt says even though each state probably wants something different in the end, they could come to a better place than they’re in now.

Blunt says he is confident that some kind of compromise can be reached, with flood control being the number one priority. He says his second priority is navigation.

Blunt says he doesn’t know the timeline for when the group will come up with a plan to change the river management structure. He says he will have a better idea after one or two meetings.

He says the Army Corps of Engineers General John McMahon will be at the meeting tomorrow to give the Corps’ perspective and answer more technical questions.
