New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is facing some heat for his decision to skip the All-Star festivities in Arizona, citing exhaustion for his reason to take a few personal days during the break. However, that is not sitting well with some in baseball.

Many are coming out and saying it’s an obligation for Jeter to appear at the ballpark, especially given the fact, he just reached the 3,000 hit milestone this weekend. Jeter just came off the DL with a calf injury and wants to rest up for the second half. Those against his decision say he could have at least made an appearance and not played in the game.

His former teammate from last year, Lance Berkman, weighed in. “I don’t think it’s my place to speak for others, but for me, personally, if you get selected to be here, you have an obligation. You gotta be here. If you can go, you gotta go.”
