One of Missouri’s last WASP members has died.

Penny Ross, 96, of Mexico was one of fewer than 1,200 Women’s Air Force Service Pilots in World War Two who ferried planes between bases and even pulled targets for male pilots training for combat. Last year she received the Congressional Gold Medal for her service. Ross was a Moberly native.
