Tennessee man drowns in Current River

A 26-year-old from Dyersburg, Tennessee drowed in the Current River over the weekend.

The Water Patrol reports Eugene Smith was trying to swim across the Current River on July 2 when witnessess say he appeard to struggle in the swift current, went under and did not resurface.

Water Patrol Divers recovered his body in about 15 feet of water.
