Senator Kurt Schaefer says though he’s the Senate Budget Chair, he spends time making sure he is updating laws that are less glamorous. He says it’s easy to have a hot topic to target each session, but its important not to forget the smaller things. The Governor signed his overarching environmental bill into law.

Part of this bill corrected a law banning styrofoam coolers that was written a few years ago. The law had an error in it that ended up banning regular coolers instead. He says part of his job is to catch errors like that one.

Schaefer says other parts of the bill protect state park funding and give more unified regulations on gas stations. He says there was basically no opposition to the bill.
