The USA Softball team, which includes Missouri pitcher Chelsea Thomas and outfielder Rhea Taylor, won its first four exhibition games, all against the USA Junior Women’s National Team, winning by a combined score of 33-3. So far, Thomas has a 2-0 record and a 0.00 earned run average. The USA Softball Team and the Junior National Team will play one more doubleheader today before USA softball travels to British Columbia for the Canadian Open FastPitch International Championship the following week.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, led by Missouri head coach Tim Jamieson, won three games during the past three days to improve its overall record to 6-1 this summer. Team USA beat the Gastonia Grizzlies, a college team from North Carolina 12-5. The team will play today and tomorrow against the 18U National Team before beginning a five-game, multi-site series against the Japan Collegiate All-Stars Sunday.
