Franklin cut by the Cardinals

June 30, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Before Wednesday night’s game in Baltimore, the Cardinals cut struggling relief pitcher Ryan Franklin. In this previous four starts, Franklin gave up nine runs in six innings of work and eight extra base hits. His troubles have been all year.

The former 2009 All-Star, blew three saves in the first ten games this seasons and was demoted to situations where the Cardinals mostly had a sizable lead. Even then his struggles continued. He had just one save in five opportunities and had an 8.26 ERA.
