The Greene County Commission has voted to include the words “In God We Trust” under the county seal that hangs behind them when the meet at the courthouse. Presiding Commissioner Jim Viebrock says it’s become something of a trend across the country.

Two speakers opposed adding the words at a public hearing before the vote. Viebrock says it’s not about religion because “In God We Trust” is America’s official motto and reflects what America is as a nation.

Viebrock says any elected county official who also wants to display the national motto in their office has every right to do that.
