Cards Can’t Fly, Lose 7th Straight

June 18, 2011 By Missourinet Sports

The Cardinals losing streak is now at 7, after they start round two of the I-70 series at Busch by losing to the Royals last night, 5-4.  The win would stop a two game losing streak for Kansas City.

The game would be tied at 4 in the top of the eighth, when Albert Pujols would make an error at first, allowing Mike Moustakas to score the winning run for the Royals.

Joakim Soria would pick up his 11th save of the season for Kansas City.   Blake Wood picked up the win for the Royals.

Cards starter Chris Carpenter still has just one win on the season.

Lance Berkman was the offense for the Cardinals driving in three runs.  Alex Gordon would have two RBI’s for the Royals.

Game two of the series is tonight as Vin Mazzarro starts for Kansas City against Jake Westbrook for St. Louis.

First pitch is 6:15.
