The state division of workers’ compensation has sent a $25,000 check to the family of a northeast Missouri deputy sheriff who died on duty last year.

Clark County deputy Don McCutcheon had a heart attack while on patrol. The money comes from the state’s Line of Duty Compensation Fund that was established two years ago for families of first responders who die in the line of duty.
