Joplin recovery to cost hundreds of millions

June 15, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

Senator Blunt says after talking with the head of the Sisters of Mercy Hospital System, he has a better idea of how much it’s going to cost to rebuild – and it’s not going to be cheap; it’s going to cost between 450 and 700 million dollars. He says this is important because this hospital serves more than the area of Joplin.

Blunt says he also talked to the Superintendant of the Joplin school district. He says it will cost at least 150 million dollars to rebuild the highschool. The school and hospital will take two to three years to rebuild.

There’s also an elementary school and two fire stations in need of repair.
