A study by the Chronicle of Higher Education indicates member of the Missouri legislature are better-educated than the state’s general population, but below average nationally. The organization says 69 percent of Missouri’s lawmakers have bachelor’s degrees or more. Nationally the figure is about 75 percent.

But compared to the population in general, our lawmakers are well ahead. While 69 percent of the members of the Missouri House and Senate have bachelor’s degrees or more, only 25 percent of the people in Missouri have a baccalaureate degree or more.
