Edwards’ lead cut into after Pocono

Columbia native Carl Edwards lost a chunk of his points lead finishing in 37th at Pocono after he was knocked out with a bad engine. He 40 point lead was cut to six. Jeff Gordon won at the triangle track for the fifth time.

Cup Standings

The left front of Kurt Busch’s car was found to be too low during post-race inspection. Any penalties for the infraction would be announced this Tuesday.  Busch finished third.  As far as winner Jeff Gordon. It was his second of the year, his fifth at Pocono’s 2.5-mile triangular track and the 84th of his career, tying Gordon with Darrell Waltrip and Bobby Allison for third on the all-time list.
