A big night in the long managerial career for Tony LaRussa ends with disappointment as the Cardinals are shut out in Milwaukee last night by the Brewers, 8-0.  LaRussa was managing the five thousandth game in his career, but could only stand and watch as the Birds would get just six hits against former Cardinal prospect Chris Narveson.

Prior to the start of the game, there was a small fire in the ballpark.  No word on any injuries or a cause, but it did spark the Milwaukee bats which would pound out 11 hits.

Kyle Lohse would take the loss.  He would give up four runs over five innings of work.  He is now 7-3 on the season.

Chris Carpenter will be trying for his second win of the year as the two teams play again tonight.

Former Kansas City Royal Zack Greinke will take the hill for the Brewers.

St. Louis Cardinals game time is 6:10.
