Three Additional Mizzou Football Games Selected for TV

June 4, 2011 By Missourinet Contributor

Three more University of Missouri football games have been selected for national television broadcasts for the upcoming 2011 season, as announced today by the Big 12 Conference.  That gives Mizzou four games picked for telecast through the early selection process.  The remainder of the league games will be selected for broadcast as the season unfolds, on the standard 12-day or 6-day advance notice system.

The 2011 season will begin on television, as the Tigers’ season opener in Columbia against Miami (Ohio) has been selected for a Fox Sports Net broadcast, with kickoff set for 11 a.m. (central time).  Other games that were picked by league television partners include Mizzou’s Sept. 24 game at Oklahoma (on FX – 7 p.m.) and the regular-season finale against rival Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (FSN – 11 a.m.).

Those early selections brings the total to four televised games currently, as Mizzou’s Sept. 9th game at Arizona State had previously been announced as being picked up by ESPN (9:30 p.m. central time).

The latest FOX selections guarantee national television coverage of the final seven games of Conference play with contests on FX, FSN, ABC and ESPN.

A select number of non-traditional date telecasts was announced earlier. By contract, both ABC and FOX must select games for the first three weeks of the season by June 1 annually. FOX and ABC provided early selections for the final two weeks of the season to assist the Conference institutions’ planning on Thanksgiving weekend and the first Saturday in December. All remaining games for telecast will be selected on a 12-day or six-day basis during the season. FOX may work with member institutions to place unselected non-conference games on Fox College Sports, pay-per-view or other institutional platforms
