Unruly airline passenger gets psychiatric exam

May 17, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

An airline passenger who tried to open an airliner’s front door while the plane was over St. Louis is headed to a psychiatric exam. A judge has ordered the test for Reynel Alcaide after a court affidavit said he planned to commit suicide by jumping out of the plane. Two passengers and a flight attendant got him under control in the plane, which made an emergency landing in St. Louis.
