The seven-year long fight by people in Boonville to keep the Union Pacific Railroad from dismantling a bridge across the Missouri River and moving it to another location appears to be nearing an end. The city council could vote next Monday night for the city to take ownership of the bridge from the railroad.

The city does not plan to spend tax money on the bridge’s restoration. The bridge would be used to link the city with the KATY trail on the other side of the river.
