Illinois man charged with ‘crime involving an aircraft’ at Lambert

May 10, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

An Illinois man who caused a lot of trouble on an airliner has been charged with interfering with a flight crew and with a crime involving an aircraft. Both federal charges have been filed against Reynel Alcaide of Burbank, Ill.

A Continental airliner made an emergency landing at Lambert-St. Louis airport Sunday night after two passengers and a flight attendant restrained Alcaide. The charges say he had repeatedly tried to open the front passenger door in mid-flight.
