The national Society for Commercial Archaeology has listed a former Carthage motel as one of the nation’s Ten Most Endangered Roadside Places.

The organization says the Boots Motel, once a Route 66 stopover, is now a low-rent housing unit. The Society says the motel’s future is uncertain. The society says it’s the nation’s oldest organization devoted to preserving the commercial landscape of the 20th century.
