A second man convicted in the murders of a rural Carthage couple has been sentenced to prison for the rest of his life with no chance of ever getting out. Darren Winans has been given two life sentences plus two 20 year terms for armed criminal action, 15 more years for burglary and 7 more years for stealing. The judge has ordered the sentences to run consecutively.

Winans’ co-defendant was sentenced to life without parole last July.  He killed himself two days later in his Jasper County jail cell.
