A lawsuit has been filed in Washington D.C. demanding damages for farmers and property owners in the Mississippi River Spillway — that’s the land flooded by the Bird’s Point levee breach. The lawsuit says the government has violated the fifth amendment by taking property without just compensation.

The lawsuit does not mention a damage figure but one of the lawyers says a 20-year-old government study said the damage would be about $300 million dollars if a breach occurred.
