Royals get 8 in the eighth in big win

May 1, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Alex Gordon hit a three run homer in an eight-run, eighth inning and rookie pitcher Nate Adcock picked up his first major league win as the Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 11-2 Saturday night.

The Royals are now 11-5 at home, compared to 3-8 on the road.

The Royals sent 12 men to the plate in the eighth and scored all eight runs after two outs. Six runs were unearned after an error by Twins first baseman Justin Morneau.

Twins starter Brian Duensing was 4-0 against the Royals before this loss. He had just one big mistake, a homer in the fourth by Billy Butler, his first since April 5.

Royals starter Sean O’Sullivan, gave up just two hits, but walked seven, more than he had in his four previous starts combined.
