Creve Coeur man attacks grocery shoppers

April 26, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

Creve Coeur police say a man they have arrested for running down two shoppers in a grocery store parking lot says he intended to kill people. Officers say Josef Achtentuch hit two people and then tried to kill one of them by throwing bricks. The Creve Coeur police chief says Achtentuch was despondent about his wife’s death five years ago and was having a trouble dealing with insomnia and job pressures.

A woman he hit with his car has suffered an arm injury. An 80-year-old man he knocked down and then hit with a brick has injuries to his midsection, chest, and a thumb.
