Lance Berkman and Albert Pujols each hit two home runs as the Cardinals pounded out 19 hits, their fifth straight game of 14 or more hits, as the visitors clubbed the Dodgers 11-2 Friday night.

Berkman led off the second with a homer and the Cards grabbed a 2-0 lead on a balk by starter Jon Garland. Ryan Theriot later singled to give St. Louis a 3-0 lead. In the fourth, Berkman connected again leading off the inning with a homer and the Cards were up 4-0.

Kyle Lohse was spotted a 4-0 lead, his only tough inning was the fourth, when he allowed two runs. Lohse was able to pitch into the eighth inning allowing just six hits and a walk while striking out six.

After the Dodgers cut the lead in half, St. Louis went right back to work in the fifth. After Colby Rasmus led off with a double, Albert Pujols hit his third homer of the year to make it a 6-2 game. Pujols added some insurance, leading off the seventh with his second homer of the game. Pujols’ average is nearly 100 points higher than when he started this long road trip a week ago.

Dodger reliever Lance Cormier got tagged for four runs in the ninth on four more hits and two walks. Matt Holliday doubled in a run, Tyler drove in two with a single and Skip Schumaker walked with the bases loaded.
