A Springfield man who claimed he was a registered asbestos abatement contractor — but who was not — has been fined $2,000 for violating state clean air laws. A judge also has told Robert Peterson not to do any more work related to asbestos abatement without getting permission from the Department of Natural Resources.
The Attorney General claimed Peterson took asbestos-containing materials to a landfill in unlabeled bags and told landfill operators his material was safe.
