A Kansas City psychiatric hospital is in trouble after a suicide. Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital reportedly has a history of patient-care problems. The most recent allegation is that it’s staff failed to adequately monitor a suicidal patient, then bungled attempts to resuscitate her after she strangled herself with a strap.

The hospital now faces federal sanctions.

Federal officials say they’ll drop Two Rivers from the Medicare program on Monday unless suicide precautions are put in place.

The feds have also told the hospital that it needs to keep patients who’ve committed sex offenses away from other patients.
