Cards Rally, But Lose in 12 to San Francisco

April 9, 2011 By Missourinet Sports

The St. Louis Cardinals are off to their worst start since 1997 after they lose in 12 innings to the Giants in San Francisco 5-4.

The Redbirds rallied in the top of the ninth thanks to a 2 out single off the bat of Ryan Theriot.

But, in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out, Ryan Franklin could not close the door.

The Cardinals did get some good news on Friday as Matt Holliday did a full workout and may be ready to play on Sunday.

Jamie Garcia will take the mound for the Cards when they take on the Giants tonight.  Matt Cain will get the start for the Giants.

Cardinal game time is 9:05.
