A Southeast Missouri deputy sheriff has resigned after shooting and killing a family’s Chihuahua. Bollinger County sheriff’s deputy Kelly Burks thought the dog had bitten her when she shot it the first time after answering a domestic disturbance call. But it had not. The sheriff says Burks went back into the house and shot the dog two more times when it continued to act aggressively.
