Matt Treanor’s three run homer in the bottom of the 13th inning capped a crazy 12-9 win for the Royals third win in a row over the Los Angeles Angels.  On a windy afternoon at Kaufmann Stadium, Treanor’s homer was the eighth of the game and third by the Royals who won in their final at-bat for the third time.

On a day dominated by the pitcher, Tim Collins pitched three scoreless innings while allowing just two runs as he picked up his first major league win.  Collins got the opportunity thanks to a blown save by the Angels’ Fernando Rodney.

L.A. was up 9-7 when Rodney walked three batters.  With one out, Wilson Betimit doubled in two to tie the game at 9-9.  Starter Bruce Chen was spotted a 5-0 lead in the first two innings as the Royals battered starter Scott Kazmir.  Alex Gordon had two hits, there was a solo homer by Melky Cabrera and Kila Ka’aihue hit a two-run double.  Howie Kendrick hit two homers and Maicer Izturis had one off Chen. Billy Butler hit one to put the Royals up, 6-5, when Chen left.

Bobby Abreu hit a two-run blast off Royals reliever Sean O’Sullivan and Callaspo took rookie Jeremy Jeffress deep in the top of the ninth for a 9-7 lead.
