Finding your house during an emergency could soon become a lot easier for rescue crews, now that a new device is available in the Ozarks.

Strafford Fire Chief Fred Osbourn says the HomeFinder attaches to your porch light, and is easy to use. Turning the light off, then quickly on again will turn it into a flashing beacon.

Osbourn says it’s a big help for kids who may not know their address when calling 911. He says it also helps anyone who might be panicking during an emergency, and reference the wrong house number.

Departments in the St. Louis area have seen a lot of success with people using HomeFinder to cut down response time. That’s where Chief Osbourn got the idea, and brought it to the Ozarks.

KTTS in Springfield contributed to this report.
