Mizzou meeting with Purdue’s Painter today

March 29, 2011 By Bill Pollock

According to reports in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, University of Missouri officials will be meeting with Purdue men’s basketball coach Matt Painter today (March 29) in Florida.

The dollar figures that are being thrown out are in the neighborhood of $2 million-$2.3 million, in the range of five to seven years. Former Purdue coach Gene Keady, who Painter played for and was an assistant, told CBSSports.com, “Matt wants a situation where he will be able to make a run for a national championship. The administration here has to step up and help him. I think he’ll stay.”

On Monday, there were reports from sources who said they felt it was better than a 50-50 chance that Painter would come to Missouri and that a resolution, one way or the other would happen by Wednesday.
