Cardinals pitching star Adam Wainwright and his family, along with former Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond, were among the 140+ passengers and crew that were on a Delta airplane that slid to a stop off a snowy runway at Lambert-St. Louis Airport on Saturday evening.

Wainwright was with his wife and their two children coming back from Florida where he was going to meet with Cardinals reps on Sunday about rehabilitating his elbow following season ending surgery.

Wainwright told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “I’ve taken enough flights to know that feeling when the plane lands and starts to slow down, whether it’s the wind resistance or the brakes grabbing, and I knew that it was odd that we didn’t feel that,” he said. “There was no brake grab. There was no slowing down like you’d expect.”
