Sly James KC’s new mayor with 54 percent

March 23, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

The race for mayor of Missouri’s biggest city that pollsters said was too close to call turned out not to be close at all. The new mayor of Kansas City is Sly James, who got 54 percent of the vote, defeating his friend Michael Burke.

James says he wants to see a “booming” Kansas City with less crime, good schools, safer streets, and thousands of new jobs.
