Missouri River cleanup begins

March 23, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

A group that launches Missouri River cleanup efforts every year has done an aerial survey of the 380 miles of river between Kansas City and St. Louis … and says it has found a lot of accumulated trash.

Missouri River Relief, based in Columbia, will use the aerial photos to plan this year’s cleanup effort.

Past surveys have been done by boat and a group spokesman says those surveys missed a lot of trash.
