Josh Johnson, Florida’s Opening Day starter tossed six strong innings to help give the Marlins a 5-2 win over the Cardinals, at Roger Dean Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

The Cardinals scored two runs off Johnson, one earned, as the right-hander allowed four hits while striking out four. David Freese scored when Gerald Laird reached on a throwing error in the second inning and Colby Rasmus belted a solo homer to right in the third inning, but that was all the Cardinals mustered off Johnson.
