A Bridgeton pharmaceutical company now has no competitors for a drug that is used to prevent preterm births … and customers are going to pay the price. Or maybe not.
A drug that had been called 17P when sold through wholesale pharmacies for about $1,500 a shot has been renamed Makena by KV Pharmaceutical Company and will cost about $1,500 per dose.
The Food and Drug Administration has given KV exclusive marketing rights to the drug.
