The Royals scored five runs in the fifth inning on Monday night on their way to an 11-3 win over the San Diego Padres.

Lance Zawadzki, Jarrod Dyson and David Lough each had RBI hits after reliever Mike Adams threw away Chris Getz’s high chopper back to the mound with men on second and third and one out, allowing both runners to score. That gave KC a 2-1 lead at that point. Brad Hawpe had given the Padres an early lead in the second inning with his first spring homer off Sean O’Sullivan.

First baseman prospect Eric Hosmer is hitting .462 this spring for the Royals.
