A St. Louis jury has handed down life without parole to a confessed cop-killer. Jurors had said they were deadlocked on the issue of aggravating and mitigating circumstances. The judge told them to work it out.

Sentenced is Todd Shepard, who admitted during his testimony that he murdered University City police sergeant Michael King. Shepard told the jury during the penalty hearing that he had no remorse about killing King. He says he wanted to start a revolution by killing police officers.

The jury was 11 to 1 on executing him, because one juror would not agree to the death penalty, the life sentence was handed down.
