Southeast Missouri State University will not renew women’s basketball coach John Ishee’s contract after finishing the 2010-11 season with an 8-21 record. Ishee spent five seasons as the Redhawks head coach.
Marcus Payne was named acting head coach and a national search will begin immediately.
Ishee was 77-74 at Southeast and led the Redhawks to back-to-back conference championships (2006-07, 2007-08). Southeast advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) in 2008. Ishee was named the OVC Coach of the Year during the 2006-07 season.
