Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook allowed two runs on five hits through two innings, but the Cardinals beat the Mets 3-2 Wednesday afternoon in Jupiter, FL.

Lance Lynn pitched three shutout innings with two strikeouts, allowing a hit and no walks. Lynn is one of the leading contenders for the final spot in the rotation.

The offense did just enough in the sixth. Matt Carpenter doubled home Allen Craig to tie the game and Gerald Laird’s sacrifice fly brought in Tyler Greene with the winning run in the seventh. Both runs scored against Mets reliever Josh Stinson.
