Wainwright vows to be back this time next year (AUDIO)

March 2, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright underwent a successful surgery to repair his elbow. Wainwright says he is planning on being on the field at this time next year.  Wainwright said he felt a little twinge in his elbow on his third to last pitch of his live batting practice session a little over a week ago. He said up to that point, he was cruising along and everything felt fine.

Highlights of Adam Wainwright’s teleconference

A day later, what turned up was an elbow that was as Wainwright puts it, “the whole thing was mangled.” He says he is now on a program that in 11 1/2 months will have him throwing at 100%.
