The General Services Administration has told Sen. Claire McCaskill’s committee on contracting oversight that it gave a no-bid 234,000 public relations contract to a Kansas City company.

The money paid for three months of work by Jane Mobley Associates to respond to reports about possible contamination at a federal office complex in Kansas City. The GSA says it bypassed the bidding process and let the PR company write the statement of work to be done because it had to act quickly.
