Relatively heavy snow has hit the northern third of Missouri overnight… The state transportation department says roads north of Interstate 70 were snow-covered for the morning rush hour. Heaviest snow depths we’ve seen so far are 7 inches in Weston, in northwest Missouri, 6.5 inches at Claycomo, north of Kansas City, 6 at Mexico in Audrain County and at Bowling Green in nearby Pike County, with 5 at Independence, at Paris in Monroe County and Shelbyville, in northeast Missouri.
The state transportation department’s online Traveler Information Map shows which roads are affected by snow, and which are cleared.
Earlier this month, says the Department, the map was visited more than half a million times when the big blizzard hit. The department says it picked up more than 3,500 new Facebook friends and 553 new Twitter followers from Jan. 31 through Feb. 2.
The department also has a video on its website showing how to shovel your driveway so snowplows don’t plow it shut it again. The department says the video has been watched more than 5,300 times this month.
