Former MU pitcher Scherzer to pitch in Detroit’s home opener

Former Missouri Tiger pitching star Max Scherzer has been named the pitcher for the Detroit Tigers home opener on April 8th.

Scherzer, who started his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks came over to Detroit last season. He went 11-7 with a 2.46 ERA in 23 starts after he was called up from Triple-A Toledo in late May. Scherzer had 158 strikeouts over 153 2/3 innings.
