Former Kansas City mayor Charles Wheeler has decided he doesn’t want to run for mayor again. He’s dropped out but it’s too late to remove his name from the ballot. Wheeler was mayor from 1971 to 1979. He later served a term in the state senate but gave up a chance for another term for an unsuccessful run for Jackson County executive.
