With the season winding down, so are the playoff chances for the St. Louis Blues.  The Note would have the lead four different times last night against the Minnesota Wild, but could not hold it and would lose in the ninth round of the shootout, 5-4.

The game started off well for St. Louis as Patrik Berglund scored in the first two minutes of the opening period.  About a minute later, Minnesota would tie the game.  Andy McDonald would score late in the first to give the Blues a 2-1 lead.

In the second, Minnesota would score the only goal to tie the game 2-2.

Just like the 1st, St. Louis would score fast.  David Backes would light the red light at the 19 second mark.  And just like the first, the Wild would come right back.  Just 22 seconds later, the game would be tied again.

David Backes would score again about six minutes later to once again give St. Louis the lead.  But with just about a minute left in the game, Minnesota would score again to tie the game and force overtime.

No one would score in the extra time so the game would head to a shootout.  It would take nine rounds, but the Wild would get the win.

With the loss, St. Louis now finds itself seven points behind Calgary for the last spot in the NHL’s Western Conference.

Same two teams tonight, just a different location as the Blues are in Minnesota to take on the Wild.  St. Louis Blues game time is 8:00.
