Headed for Oklahoma on I-44? Turnpike’s closed.

February 1, 2011 By [email protected]

The state transportation department says anybody headed to Oklahoma on Interstate 44 needs to find a place to hole up in Springfield, Mount Vernon, and Joplin.  Those are the exits with motels and restaurants.

I-44 West in Oklahoma—known as the Will Rogers Turnpike in part of Oklahoma–has been closed and officials say it’s likely to be closed for four days.  Missouri highway officials say I-44 remains open although it is snow covered in southwest Missouri.
